Magadan to expand "Solnechny" all-season sports and tourism complex

Magadan is set to launch a series of infrastructure projects in the "Solnechny" microdistrict to bolster regional and federal sports training and competitions.

A key highlight is the construction of the "Athlete’s House" (Dom Sportsmenov), a specialized accommodation facility primarily for athletes, which will also serve tourists during the off-season. Governor Sergei Nosov has approved the construction site on the grounds of a former city hospital. Concurrently, the Mayor’s Office is finalizing the design for a 250-space parking zone, with funding for the initial phase to be reviewed this year.

Furthermore, plans for a high-tech chairlift equipped with heated seats and wind protection deflectors are underway. The project documentation has passed state expertise and has been submitted to the regional Ministry of Construction to determine the implementation stages.

"The 'Athlete’s House' is a logical extension of our regional sports cluster. We are creating an environment where athletes can train efficiently without logistical hurdles. Everything—tracks, jumps, and infrastructure—is within reach," commented Yuri Grishan, Advisor to the Governor of the Magadan Region. "This project will make 'Solnechny Magadan' a truly all-season destination."

These initiatives are part of the larger strategic project to establish the "Solnechny Magadan" all-season sports and tourism hub.
