Magadan region and X5 agreed to cooperate in the margins of the WEF

The Government of the Magadan region and Russia's leading food retailer X5 Group signed a cooperation agreement in the margins of the Eastern Economic Forum.

The document was signed by Sergey Nosov, Governor of the Magadan region, and Vasily Pushkin, Director for Public Authorities Relations of X5 Group, in the presence of Roman Chekushov, State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

The agreement is aimed at developing modern retailing in the region and providing consumers with access to quality goods at affordable prices, as well as providing conditions for attracting local producers to the trade sphere. The regional government, within its powers, will support the development of retail trade, implement measures of state support for local manufacturers and suppliers, and stimulate business activity in the region.

"Our cooperation with X5 is of social importance, because Kolyma residents are waiting for the appearance of a federal operator in the region, with which a fair pricing policy will be implemented," emphasized Governor Sergey Nosov.

"The agreement is the first step in cooperation with the Magadan region. The company has entered the Far East since 2023, and the Magadan region is one of the next milestones to be overcome. Before the retail chain enters the region, it is necessary to carry out comprehensive work - to solve logistics issues, to find partners and suppliers, premises and personnel," said Vasily Pushkin, Director for Public Authorities Relations at X5 Group.

"A federal chain of shops in the Magadan region means, firstly, equality in receiving services and facilities by customers at a similar level to the rest of the country. Secondly, it is an increase in competitiveness within the entities, because the more "players" there are, the more there is a "fight" for the buyer, and this ultimately has a positive effect on prices. Thirdly, for our supervised representatives of the trade industry - this is development, a step forward - an increase in retail outlets, experience in providing services and services", - said Roman Chekushov, State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

In the future, X5 Group may start operating in the Magadan region, including opening stores of its retail chains under the franchising model. The company will also continue its development in the Far East, including charitable programs and cooperation with local producers, ensuring the presence of their products on the shelves of the company's stores.

The first "Pyaterochka" opened in the Far Eastern Federal District in March 2023. As of the beginning of September, 163 stores are open and operating in the Far East regions.
