Mikhail Mishustin held a working meeting with the Governor of Magadan Region Sergey Nosov
The development of the region is an important task. Over the last 4 years, the growth of private investment has increased 1.5 times. Target values for employment have been achieved.
Governor Sergey Nosov reported an increase in gross regional product. Despite the sanctions, the region's gold mining industry was able to demonstrate its resilience: suppliers of the necessary equipment have been found and investment continues. The expected increase in gold production compared to 2023 is 5.6 tons.
Investors are particularly interested in the Magadan region. In the future, according to Sergey Nosov, diversification of mineral production is possible. Businesses are also actively investing in the fishing industry. Two specialised fishing vessels - crab trawlers - were delivered to the region.
Social infrastructure is also being created in Magadan region: cultural and community centers, sanatoriums, hotels. This, in turn, entails the need for labor resources. The region has a low unemployment rate. In 2023, the wage increase was 11%; in 2024, the expected increase could be 17%.
Mikhail Mishustin also discussed with the Governor of Magadan region the development of the social sphere of the region.
The head of the region Sergey Nosov reported about the construction of medical and educational institutions in the region.
The construction of the regional oncology center was completed within the required time period. This allowed the introduction of more than 50 new techniques for the treatment of oncologic diseases. The number of cases when patients have to travel outside the region for treatment has decreased by 3 times. There was a 15% decrease in cancer mortality.
Magadan region has received 1.35 billion rubles for the modernization of primary health care. These funds make it possible to implement a number of projects and renovate about 45% of primary care facilities. Also, the construction of a maternity hospital continues in Magadan, which will unite 4 medical centres related to motherhood and childhood into a single medical centre. The design of the infectious disease center is underway.
A modern school project was implemented in Ola settlement. In 2023, it was recognized as the best educational facility in Russia. A new school with an engineering bias is being built in the regional center. Methodological support for the project is provided by leading universities and institutes of the country.
Mikhail Mishustin drew attention to the issue of medical personnel shortage, which is also relevant for the Magadan region. Specialist recruitment is underway. For example, 62 new physicians came to the region to work in 2023.
The issue of housing development is also relevant. The program of rental housing for specialists will allow to build about 1.1 thousand apartments.
"There is no doubt that there should be more educational and medical facilities in Magadan region, this is very important. It is great that you are doing this: even in the most remote and hard-to-reach areas of the country people should receive good education, good qualified medical care," said Mikhail Mishustin.
The Government will support the Governor's request for additional funding for the improvement of public spaces in Magadan. Mikhail Mishustin instructed Sergey Nosov to prepare a list of such facilities and systems, considering the availability of modern equipment and qualified specialists.
