Mikhail Mishustin examined the progress of construction of a new air terminal complex at Magadan International Airport

Magadan (Sokol) Airport named after V.S. Vysotsky is the only transport infrastructure facility in the Magadan region that allows intra-regional flights to settlements in the region and long-haul flights to the central part of the country. In January 1961 a regular scheduled flights along the Magadan-Moscow route was opened. In 1980, the first non-stop flight was made along this air route. Magadan Airport is open for scheduled passenger, cargo and charter air transportation on Russian and international routes.

On 13 May, 2020, in order to improve the efficiency of air transport support, the President accepted the proposal of the Russian Government and the regional government to transfer 100% of shares of Magadan Airport JSC into the ownership of Magadan region.

A new passenger terminal of the international airport terminal complex is currently under construction. Its capacity is 800 passengers per hour (the existing terminal can serve only 600 passengers per hour).

The new complex will solve one of the long-standing problems of passengers - there will be an updated baggage claim system that meets all modern requirements. The apron will be equipped with two passenger boarding bridges, which is important in the harsh climatic conditions of the Magadan region. The second floor will have retail space and passenger rest areas.

The planned date of commissioning of the new air terminal complex is the fourth quarter of 2024.

Alexey Chekunkov, Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, and Roman Starovoit, Minister of Transportation, are taking part in the trip together with the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
