President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko held a working meeting with the Governor of the Magadan region Sergey Nosov.
"This is your first visit to us. And at the beginning of our meeting I want to assure you that you will not regret that you have overcome these 11 thousand kilometers. We do not divide Russian regions into remote and non-remote. We work with everyone and find common ground. I am sure that we will be able to add significantly to our relations with the Magadan region. First of all, in trade and economic areas. I am convinced that you will find everything you need - starting from industrial products to food, medicines, cosmetics and so on,’ said the Belarusian leader.
He stated that the indicator of mutual trade does not reflect the capabilities of the parties in any way. "We must decide how we will work to radically increase the rhythm of mutually beneficial trade and economic relations," the head of state suggested.
Alexander Lukashenko outlined a number of promising areas for the development of cooperation and assured that Belarus will make every effort to implement the agreements that will be reached.
Taking into account the rich natural resource base of the Magadan region and plans to develop new deposits of non-ferrous metals, there is a good potential for increasing supplies of dump trucks. "Western brands have left Russia, and I think you will find them replaced by our goods," the head of state said.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that OJSC BELAZ intends to open a multi-brand center in the region for the sale, comprehensive maintenance and repair of all Belarusian equipment, as well as for the sale of tires of various diameters and load indices.
Also, the President of Belarus suggested joint production of precious metal products at the plant "Kristall" in Homel.
In addition, according to the Belarusian leader, it is possible to use Belarusian design documentation for the construction of educational, sports, shopping facilities, multifunctional complexes and all engineering structures during the integrated development in Magadan after appropriate adaptation.
In view of the projects being implemented in the Magadan region for the construction of HPPs (Hydro Power Plant) and power transmission lines for power supply, Belarus can offer the widest range of cable products and transformers.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that work is already underway to open a large store with Belarusian goods in Magadan. "In addition to quality food products we are ready to supply you with furniture, textiles, carpets, footwear, household chemicals, cosmetics. And other products that suit you," he assured.
The President also suggested that a production of dairy products from Belarusian raw materials should be organised in Magadan region. Additionally, Kolyma is rich in fish and seafood, which Belarusians do not have as much on their table as they should and would like. "But there is a demand. We only need direct deliveries and, of course, an adequate price. You are welcome to create your own processing facilities in Belarus with an eye not only on our market, but also on the logistically close cities of Moscow, St. Petersburg and others, as well as in other countries, if you are interested. We will provide you with all sorts of facilities", he offered.
Various options for cooperation in the tourism, sanatorium recreation and medical services sectors were also discussed.
Following the meeting, Governor of the Magadan region Sergey Nosov outlined three areas in which Belarus and Kolyma are interested in co-operation.
"Alexander Grigorievich expressed his point of view, his vision of the relationship between the Republic of Belarus and Magadan region in all sectors. We share the directions and suggestions that have been made. They are all varied, but I would highlight three. Heavy machinery, due to the specifics of our region. We're a mining region. Agriculture. We have enough fish, but meat and dairy products and so on - insufficient. This may include direct deliveries as well as increased production right on site. Cooperation in the field of culture, tourism, recreation and patriotic education of the joint younger generation of our youth," said Sergey Nosov.
The head of the region also noted the main outcome of the discussions with the President of Belarus - the creation of a centre in Magadan region, which will deal with heavy machinery.
