Yuri Trutnev: Magadan will receive modern air gates
Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District, Yuri Trutnev and Governor of the Magadan Region Sergei Nosov visited the construction site of the new Magadan Sokol International Airport terminal center.
“We are updating the airport infrastructure in almost all regions of the Far East. The district is located far from the central part of Russia, and the main means of communication are airplanes. There will be normal conditions for passengers, waiting and baggage handling. But most importantly, a new aerial facade of the territory, its gates, will appear. A visiting person will see that this is a prosperous developing region,” Yuri Trutnev said.
As the governor of the region Sergei Nosov noted, the design of the terminal building was chosen by residents of the Magadan region. The new airport terminal will be equipped with two telescopic ladders and an automatic baggage handling system, and modern passenger service technologies will be implemented in it.
It also provides for the construction of a new forecourt, a new 10 kV electrical distribution substation, sewage treatment plants and other auxiliary facilities.
The construction of the new airport complex is carried out without changing the flight schedule. The current terminal continues to operate in the same mode without any restrictions in passenger service.
Despite the onset of frosts, the construction of the terminal will be completed on time, there is no lag behind schedule. The contractor assures that the pace of construction is even slightly ahead of schedule. A temporary thermal circuit and heat guns will help keep up the pace in winter. The area of the new terminal will be 14 thousand square meters, with a capacity of 800 passengers per hour. Concrete work has almost been completed in the new airport terminal, metal structures are being installed, and next week builders will begin installing profiled sheet and soft roof. Currently, 320 people work at the facility, the contractor plans to complete the construction at the end of next year, citing the fact that all working conditions have been created in the Magadan region.
The contractor is building not only a terminal complex, but also equipping the external infrastructure of the new airport terminal, and these are kilometer-long engineering networks, a forecourt, and a road interchange.
“I am sure that this airport is a unique and important facility not only for the Magadan region, but for the entire Far East. The construction of such a large modern terminal in the climatic conditions of Kolyma is not an easy task. But there are several components of confident work: a reliable contractor with high quality organization of construction work, stable financing and, of course, support from the investor, the government of the Magadan region, which helped to organize the uninterrupted delivery of building materials. Without such synergy, there would not have been the result that we are already seeing,” explained a representative of the customer, Airports of a Large Country, following an inspection of the airport complex under construction Evgeny Yankelevich.
The Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District, Yuri Trutnev, noted that the new airport complex will play an important role in the development of domestic tourism and attracting Russians to Kolyma.
“Domestic tourism is growing at a great pace. People are happy to get to know their country. And I am sure that the best part of the country that everyone needs to get to know is the Far East. We recently held the opening of our part of the exhibition “Russia”. And there they summed up the results of the competition “Far East - Land of Adventures”. And there are about 300 expeditions: people have passed, filmed films. We watched them. Wonderful movies. We will now try to show them on the big screen so that even more people dream of getting to the Far East,” said Yuri Trutnev.
Recall that the Magadan Sokol Airport is an airport of federal significance, which provides regular flights from the Magadan region to airports in the Far East, Siberia and Moscow. Based on the peculiarities of its geographical location, this is an alternative facility for connecting residents of Kolyma with the regions of Russia.
