President Vladimir Putin took part in the opening ceremony of the Presidential sports center (Magadan) in a video conference format
At the site of the XI International Sports Forum “Russia— Country of Sports” , Vladimir Putin got acquainted with the presentations of "Sport to Country" and took part by video link in the opening ceremony of new sports facilities in Magadan, Ulyanovsk, Tyumen, Bryansk and Kaluga regions.
The event was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, Presidential Aide Igor Levitin.
The Governor of the Magadan region, Sergei Nosov, noted during the opening ceremony that the launch of the sports center is a really significant event for Magadans.
“Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, the construction of the Presidential sports center began on your instructions in 2020. I am proud to say that this object is unique not only for our region, but also for the whole Far East. Taking into account the Kolyma harsh climate, the sports center is of great importance. It allows people to lead a healthy lifestyle, to spend leisure time and increases youth involvement in sports. Besides, this place is decent training conditions for our athletes. Kolyma is always famous for its athletic achievements. Magadans of different ages have an opportunity to practice hockey, figure skating, swimming, martial arts, game sports. Moreover, we are planning to develop such kinds of sport as mass skating and cybersport. The conditions are suitable for all categories of the population, including people with disabilities. Also there is an aqua zone with five pools for children, where they can both train and relax. In addition to this, there are a medical rehabilitation unit and a physical education dispensary there. I am sure that the visitors of the Presidential sports center will be satisfied with the result of the work of the builders, among whom are Magadan companies, which makes me feel very proud. Of course, without your support, dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, without the support of the federal center, we would not have been able to construct this sports facility. Thank you very much from all the residents of Kolyma,” said Sergei Nosov.
Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated all participants of the opening ceremonies of new sports facilities.
“I would like to thank everyone who took part in the preparation of the facilities for today's meeting: builders, engineers, our commercial companies – I see certain posters with the names of these companies hanging – thank you all, who took an active part in the project and supported this idea. Of course, thank you, the heads of regions and municipalities. People have been waiting for the opening of these facilities for a long time. Now we have some sports centers, some of them are opened every year, but speaking about the level that we have stated as the necessary one for the development of physical culture and sports, the number of facilities is still not enough for the whole country in general. According to our plan, is it supposed that 70% of our citizens should be engaged in physical education and sports throughout the country, and we are speaking about the people of different ages, different health groups. It is a real reason for pride to realize that now both kids and adults have the opportunity to get physical education and do sports in five new facilities of five different Russian regions. Once again, I congratulate you all on this and wish you all the best in the development of these new sports facilities. Thank you very much. Have a nice day!” said Vladimir Putin.
In addition to a multi-purpose hall, swimming pools, an ice arena, and boxing gyms, Kolyma residents will also be able to attend a comfortable atrium for thematic events, an aqua zone with water slides, and cozy cafes.
